I still think, the USA is the best place for democracy loving people. Govt and its agencies try their best to be accountable to law. Now if you want our Immigration issue to be put before IRAQ in the Congress, I would think that is selfishness. I have colleagues whose sons are in IRAQ. For me their lives are more important than my GC. Now that does not mean we stop making our point to Congress.

Am using vonage for lnadline for long as well used their European calling service in past - voice quality is very good - and now to India as well (to land line and cell) - quality is very good ....
Does it work well with Home security systems Like BRINKS? How good is the call quality if you have DSL at home. I have DSL with 1.5 MBPS download. Thus the voice garbles when you are actively downloading on Internet.

of all the smooth talk..cmon we all know the one time might power ruled the world.. so its not easy for them to get over with..well for those who dont like i always say..just boycott..but i know lots of them will still give in and take the pain...
the way i see..if indian airlines were upto the task.. we could have direct flights from all major cities in US..but then again how can I simply blame the British govt. for tormenting us..its the Indian govt. who can't sort this..either encourage big businesses to launch international flights with world class service..that's something which we have to wait!

Different kinds of applications undergo different levels of scrutiny. USCIS normally uses the following three background check mechanisms but maintains the authority to conduct other background investigations as necessary:
� The Interagency Border Inspection System (IBIS) Name Check� IBIS is a multi-agency effort with a central system that combines information from multiple agencies, databases and system interfaces to compile data relating to national security risks, public safety issues and other law enforcement concerns. USCIS can quickly check information from these multiple government agencies to determine if the information in the system affects the adjudication of the case. Results of an IBIS check are usually available immediately. In some cases, information found during an IBIS check will require further investigation. The IBIS check is not deemed completed until all eligibility issues arising from the initial system response are resolved.
� FBI Fingerprint Check�FBI fingerprint checks are conducted for many applications. The FBI fingerprint check provides information relating to criminal background within the United States. Generally, the FBI forwards responses to USCIS within 24-48 hours. If there is a record match, the FBI forwards an electronic copy of the criminal history (RAP sheet) to USCIS. At that point, a USCIS adjudicator reviews the information to determine what effect it may have on eligibility for the benefit. Although the vast majority of inquiries yield no record or match, about 10 percent do uncover criminal history (including immigration violations). In cases involving arrests or charges without disposition, USCIS requires the applicant to provide court certified evidence of the disposition. Customers with prior arrests should provide complete information and certified disposition records at the time of filing to avoid adjudication delays or denial resulting from misrepresentation about criminal history. Even expunged or vacated convictions must be reported for immigration purposes.
� FBI Name Checks�FBI name checks are also required for many applications. The FBI name check is totally different from the FBI fingerprint check. The records maintained in the FBI name check process consist of administrative, applicant, criminal, personnel and other files compiled by law enforcement. Initial responses to this check generally take about two weeks. In about 80 percent of the cases, no match is found. Of the remaining 20 percent, most are resolved within six months. Less than one percent of cases subject to an FBI name check remain pending longer than six months. Some of these cases involve complex, highly sensitive information and cannot be resolved quickly. Even after FBI has provided an initial response to USCIS concerning a match, the name check is not complete until full information is obtained and eligibility issues arising from it are resolved.
For most applicants, the process outlined above allows USCIS to quickly determine if there are criminal or security related issues in the applicant�s background that affect eligibility for immigration benefits. Most cases proceed forward without incident. However, due to both the sheer volume of security checks USCIS conducts, and the need to ensure that each applicant is thoroughly screened, some delays on individual applications are inevitable. Background checks may still be considered pending when either the FBI or relevant agency has not provided the final response to the background check or when the FBI or agency has provided a response, but the response requires further investigation or review by the agency or USCIS. I thought he might say something stupid about the Hindu Prayer disruption in Senate yesterday. However he didn't bring it up. But the way it's been going his "faux pas" (anti-Italian remarks during Italian parade in Little Italy, anti-Latino, anti-Indian and anti-Chinese remarks such as "socio-ethnic interest groups", "foriegn" and "cheap labor", "Communist China" and ofcourse the 7000 lepers in 3 years...) are all building up and sooner or later something will give.
I don't think anything would give as a big part of america can relate to all this. At the most CNN may fire him but a number of other stations would be ready to pick him up. Last thing a broadcaster wants is for people to ignore him/her. Thanks to us that is not going to be a problem for Dear Lou, and so a number of stations would love to have him just for that.

Hi,
I'm in trouble situation, maybe somebody can give advice.
I can file I-485(Eb3 March 2005). But my wife & daugther basically out of status. Their H4 visas were not extended.
Before june bulletin I was thinking to go back home with my daughter (she is under 18) and try to get visa in consulate. It was attorney advice. Also he suggest to file for an asylym for my wife.
Now I'm going to file I-485 for whole family regardless what attorney will tell me.
Is it good idea to go directly to uscis office and ask them (can I file)?
And what will happen if their apps gets denied?
Any ideas?

I had my interview on Jan 14th for H1B extension..same company after 3 years..fortune 100 company..VO said approved..but i have not received my pp yet. Its the 18th day and in weeks this is the 3rd one.
My brother also works for the same company same mgr..he also went on the same day for his stamping. His F1-H1. his VO was different..he got his pp after one week.
Have there been people waiting more than three weeks ?? what is the worst wait time for someone here on the forum ??
I have already postponed my flight twice..since i have to take my dad along..i have also postponed his flight twice..this was a family emergency travel and not a vacation..still its so painfull..and like everyday there is a wait..

Did you send 7001 to Ombudsman? So, Ombudsman is also hopeless?

I did send letters by USPS, but email to CIS Ombudsman is not yet sent. Can you provide link or redirect, how to do this? (template etc.) will do this ASAP. Also ask my co-workers to do this. Thanks! You are doing a great great Job for our community.
